Brief Introduction to the Book:
Despite their wide availability and relatively low prices, the conventional energy sources have harmful consequences on the environment and are exhaustible. In order to circumvent these negative effects, the renewable energies in general and the photovoltaic energy in particular are becoming more and more attractive. Solar cell is an electrical device that converts light into electricity at the atomic level. These devices use inorganic or organic semiconductor materials that absorb photons with energy greater than their band gap to promote energy carriers into their conduction band. It does not pollute the atmosphere by releasing harmful gases, does not require any fuel to produce electricity and does not moving parts so they are rugged. Solar panels have a very long life and do not need much maintenance.

Objectives:
Solar Energy Materials are the master keys of the open challenge dominating our world and its future. The objective of the book is to provide a platform to disseminate the knowledge regarding fundamentals of solar cells:
1. Examine the potential & drawbacks of currently manufactured technologies (single-and multicrystalline silicon, CdTe, CIGS, CPV);
2. Discussion of the topics such as new materials, novel device concepts and applications;
3. Analysis of the opportunities and barriers hindering photovoltaics development in the world;
4. To derive profit from the universal world experiences in the domain of solar energy.
Chapter Submission Procedure
Researchers are invited to submit on or before Oct. 15, 2017 full chapters. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Review Results are expected to be returned before Dec. 15, 2017. Contributors may also be requested to serve as a reviewer for this project. Final Acceptances are expected to be noticed before Mar. 15, 2018.
Publisher
This book is scheduled to be published by Science Publishing Group and it is anticipated to be released in 2018.
