Reported speech


We use reported speech when we are saying what other people say,believe or think


When the introductory verb is in the present,the verb between quotation marks doesn't change
Eg:She says:"I'm very tired" ===========she says that she is very tired
You see,the introductory verb is in the present,so we changed nothing


But,if the introductory verb is in the past several changes will happen

Eg:He said:"he is ill"===========he said that he was ill

because you are reporting what has been said

so,why didn't you do the same thing with the third sentence
