Almost all systems are nonlinear in real life. Nonlinearity arises either frominteraction of the various parts of a system or from some inherent propertiesof the constituent components. The study of nonlinear systems leads to betterunderstanding or new discovery in the real world. Unlike linear systems, mostnonlinear systems are difficult to solve analytically. The essential difference isthat linear systems can be broken down into parts, and each part can be solvedseparately and finally recombined to get the answer. This idea allows a drasticsimplification of complex problems and underlies such methods as normal modes,Laplace transforms, superposition arguments, and Fourier analysis. However, fornonlinear problems, every problem is a unique problem and each must be treatedseparately. There can hardly be any generalization. This makes the study ofnonlinear systems challenging and interesting
