The rumours have been bubbling for months seemingly and in recent days picked up a notch with reports that Spurs director of football Franco Baldini is in Madrid discussing the final points of Gareth Bale’s mega transfer to Real Madrid. Marca report on Thursday morning that Tottenham have accepted Real Madrid’s 99 million euro offer for Gareth Bale.
This would work out at around 85 million pounds and is slightly lower than initial reports from Italy on Tuesday had suggested, which put the agreement down as 93 million pounds (108 million euros).
Real Madrid are waiting to officially announce the deal until after they have completed their Bernabeu Trophy match with Al Sadd tonight which features former Los Blancos great Raul.
The fee is straight cash with Fabio Coentrao not part of the deal as Spurs chairman Daniel Levy wants cash only. Discussions over the Portuguese left-sided player have been the main sticking point in recent hours.
Spurs also expect to complete the signings of Willian and Erik Lamela imminently before the Gareth Bale deal is announced on Friday.
Baldini has also been negotiating with Roma in Madrid on Thursday about Lamela and Miralem Pjanic.
Finally, Marca add that Gareth Bale will be presented as a Real Madrid player next week.
