Are you finding more and more businesses are charging you a 4% transaction fee for using a card (any kind, credit or debit), which makes a 2% cash back card kind of… Only just deferring half the charge cost? In NJ all small businesses do this, all gas stations charge you more for a card, and now some larger businesses are doing it as well.

If you are experiencing this, how are you adjusting? Giving up and doing more cash transactions? Switching to a more beneficial card so the transaction fee is outweighed by the card benefits?

Cashback is near worthless to me, I made $1350 during my recent vacation thanks to sign up bonuses. In my area, gas stations don't charge more, I had actually never even heard if it until I started traveling. I saw a .30/gal difference for cash vs card recently.

We stopped at a resturant while traveling in North Carolina. No signs posted -nothing on menu -they charged us 3.99% for using our credit card. Would never go there again even if we had liked the food.
