Time for some more professional advice… this time about car insurance

I have seen a bunch of posts lately about lowering car insurance costs and that’s great.

But one part of your policy that you really gotta watch is “property damage liability”

Raising this coverage doesn’t cost very much and oftentimes lower coverage policies will have this around state minimums, often under $20,000.

Folks this is the amount that YOUR policy will pay out for property damage that YOU cause.

If you have $15,000 or $20,000 in property damage liability and you take out someone’s brand new BMW and your policy only covers $15-20k… take a guess at what’s going to end up happening to you.* Their underinsured coverage is gonna kick in and their insurance company in most states is going to then come after you for their loss.

Don’t be foolish. Saving money is great, being underinsured isn’t.

Edited to add: I would have $100,000 coverage if I were you.

Disclaimer: I’m a long time car dealer and we’ve dealt with the aftermath of underinsured accidents. It can get ugly.
