or we must put the determiner sam the new friend or sam a new friend

well sis your question is not clear i mean the answer depends on the meaning if it is to introduce sam as a new friend you should say this is sam the new friend or sam is the new friend good luck

Well, i guess you should say, the same new friend. never heard about same the new friend ! though i study in an american university and my curriculum is totally in English.
