This work aims to examine the attitudes of teachers and students towards the impact of mixing British and American English in EFL classes on students’ speaking skill. It is based on the hypothesis which states that if EFL students mix British and American English while speaking, then their speaking will be impacted negatively. To check the validity of our hypothesis, One data gathering information tool was used in this research, which is the questionnaire; both (35) first year master students and (12) Oral Expression teachers from the English department at Brothers Mentouri University were chosen randomly to answer the questionnaires. The analysis of both questionnaires have shown that Approximitely all 1st year Master students mix British and American English while speaking; they are unable the speak only one variety. Moreover, They both, teachers and students, are really aware about the negative impacts of mixing the two varieties in the same speech on the students’ speaking performance. According to the results obtained, we can say that our hypothesis has been validated.
