How big is the audience for unrequited love/love/smut stories? I enjoy Irvine Welsh ("Trainspotting"), and many of his stories contain scenes within the main story with drug taking, pornographic sex, jealousy and violence. (Also love Jackie Collins' racy stories.)
I find his stories riveting, and can't get enough. The way he writes is colloquial, mixed with ironic humour. His characters' darkest thoughts are exposed, blatantly. While they might start off noble, somewhere along the way they become angry and commit violent act, with racy sex scenes.
How would I approach writing this? I'm thinking of a collection of short stories. Would it be too much to insert yourself as a writer into a wild sex story? Or would it be better to take a more conservative approach and make it a third person narrative?
Your thoughts are appreciated.
