Naja And The Mysterious Watch

Episode 39: the old cloak

Naja stayed hiding in her place, until the king went inside.

She put the watch back into the box, then hid it in her clothes, and sneaked back to the kitchen.

The kitchen manager was upset that she was gone half hour earlier, so he threatened her if she did this again he is punish her by not paying her for that day.

Naja apologized, continued her work, and at sunset she went back to her roon along with her two roommates.

They were friends the two roommates, and every night they would sit and talk, until they fell asleep.

They were nice, and wanted to talk to Naja, but Naja was afraid that they might ask her personal questions, or anything about her, and since she is using fake identity, it's not easy to keep making lies.

So to avoid them, everytime she goes to the room, she change her clothes, and put lay down on her mattress, like she is going to sleep.

They didn't mind her, and thought that she is doing this because she is new, and her job is very tiring so probably she is very exhausted to speak.

That night Naja went directly to her mattress like usual, she had alot to think about.

Mr. Barz told her that when the minister came to the exhibition, the watch started to glow, red light, and after that it turned out that the minister is an Intore.

So the king is an Intore too? It's been 27 years now, since the watch was stolen, and probably this king is a new king, not the one who Mr. Barz mentioned.

Which explains the country bad state, everything went wrong about 20 years ago, and it's probably the time that the new king had appeared.

Whoever was the king she definitely can't give him the watch, not after what she's been through for 7 years.

Also giving him the watch means it will be glowing red while handling it to him, which simply means that his secret is exposed, and she will be killed for sure.

What to do now? Should she go back to her world and search for Mr. Barz? But if he is still alive he would've come here to this world to search for her, and take the watch to restore his honor.

But probably he will think she died, also if she went back to her world, there is Intore there and they will know that she is still alive.

So what now? Stay for a little while in Outer city to continue teaching her apprentices, then leave to Damak and forget about the watch?

But the king being Intore means that Masa Kingdom is fallen under their control, and things will get only worse, and who knows what new rules they will come up with? To get more people into jail, or to be accurate to get more people to eat.

She kept thinking about what to do, until her roommates slept, then she decided that now is not the time to think, it's time to leave this place after her mission has failed.

She moved as calmly as she can, and took out the pills, and took the one that will make her sick.

Next day, she had high fever, her face was so red, and red marks started to appear on her body.

Her roommates wanted to help her, but she told them not to touch her or go near her in case her sickness was contagious.

The doctor examined her, and decided that she had caught a serious sickness, but he couldn't tell what was the illness exactly.

So just in case it's contagious he ordered that she must not stay in the palace for now, and must be moved outside, along with her two roommates.

The three girls were moved to a small hospital in the Gardens, where the doctors made few tests on Naja and her roommates.

The roommates were in another room, and after a week, the doctors assured that they didn't caught any illness, and were sent back to the palace.

As for Naja, she was getting better after she took the pills she prepared, but her hands kept shaking because of the side effects of the healing pills, which Naja could've removed easily while making it, but she kept it on purpose.

The doctors worte a report about her condition, how her hands keep shaking, and she won't be able to work in the palace, at least not for now.

Since her work papers weren't ready yet or registered, it was very easy for her to stop working there.

It wasn't easy to hide the box that contains the watch and the letter, because there was many nurses and housemaids who kept coming and cleaning up the bed, and help her change her clothes.

When she was moves to the hospital she hid it in her clothes, then when she was alone before the doctor examined her, she hid it in the nightstand near the bed.

She was thankful that none of the nurses or the doctors said anything about the scars on her body, and they acted like they saw nothing.

After two weeks in the hospital, she was finally allowed to leave, after the doctor made sure she is completely healthy, and her sickness is gone, whatever it was.

One of the Gardens guards, accompanied her until the Gardens gate, then she walked back to Mama Vina's house.

Mama Vina, Sali and Joseph, were so happy to see her, and they hugged her, one by one, and Mama Vina made her famous potato soup especially which is Naja's favorite.

She had already thought about what to do next, while she was in the hospital.

She will stay for a while until she teach her apprentices everything about Basics health and medicines recipes, not because of the deal she made with Ortoyo but because she wanted to help the Outer city people.

It's going to take almost a year to teach them, and at that time she will find a way for sure to return the watch, and hopefully expose the king for the right people.

Ortoyo was surprised to see Naja coming at night by herself alone, she already memorized the way from going to the Outer city daily for almost two months.

He was so happy when Naja told him that she will stay in Donar for a whole year to make sure that her apprentices learn everything.

He insisted on giving her a salary 5 strad monthly, which was the highest salary in the entire kingdom.

Naja spent another month working daily at Mama Vina's restaurant helping her, and learning her recipes, and in weekends sneaking to the Library.

And after she received her first Salary, it was the time to start learning the ancient ******** of Masa Kingdom.

She asked Mr. Fleen, where she can find a good teacher, and he offered his services as a teacher.

He agreed to teach Naja daily for one hour in the library, for 50 Maran monthly.

Naja's new daily life was helping Mama Vina in the restaurant at morning, then she takes the lesson in the library, and at night she treats patients, and teach.

After a month of this daily life, a bad new reached Mika, who was following her successor's news.

The nobles gang who control most areas of the Outer city, is targeting Black Angel, they want to kill her, because they don't want her to teach the people there, because this will give them power to have a medical assistance in the gangs wars.

She knew that Naja could take care of herself, and she learned a unique deadly fighting art, along with her unusual ability of reflexes.

Yet she was worried about her, because she knows that Naja won't kill anyone, so it won't be easy for her to fight if they send some men.

She decided to send Prince to protect her, and told him that he can find where she is, by asking Ortoyo.

For Naja going to the Gardens daily wasn't an easy thing, going through the hole, and checking the road carefully while sneaking inside wasn't always enough.

Like for example one time while Naja was in the library, some guards entered and started searching the place in case someone from the Walls sneaked there.

It was a precaution measure that the guards do every while in public places.

It's easy to recognize the people of the Walls by their clothes, beside the small difference in the design and the material of the clothes, they didn't had any embroidery on it and weren't allowed to have any, unlike the Gardens people that all thier clothes must have embroidery on it, which is usually gold.

The more the embroidery on the clothes the higher the social status is, like the nobles who have their own symbols on thier clothes, especially the cloak back.

That's why Mr. Fleen knew from the very beginning that Naja and Joseph are from the Walls, but he didn't mind them, because he thinks that knowledge shouldn't be exclusive, it should be for everyone.

Knowing that Naja sneaks to the Library, he knew that she was in danger when the guards came to search the library.

So while the young man who work with Fleen was thier companion, Mr. Fleen sneaked as fast as he can and went to a small storage behind the entrance counter, where they put the lost things there in case anyone returns to get it back.

He took out an old cloak that he warped it in fabric to keep it clean, the cloak had golden embroidery on it, it was very old, that when he started working in the library at a young age, the cloak was already there in the storage.

He took it to Naja who didn't know that the guards were in the library because the history section where they studied the ancient ******** was in the end of the big library.

Naja wore it fast on her clothes and turned her back, like she is looking at some books, and when the guards saw the cloak that was full of the embroidery and had a symbol of a noble family, they didn't dare to go any closer or talk to her, and she was saved.

From that day on, she always wear that cloak while going in or out the library, and of course in the library.

She always wore it once she go through the hole.

But one day after she left the library and was walking in the street to turn and enter the whole, there were guards who one of them,* Naja's dress doesn't have any embroidery, and doesn't look fancy like the cloak.

So he told her to stop, and walked towards her to check out her identity.
