I talk about those things that must be mastered or strongly considered before you ever write your first word. It is more structured toward novelists vice a short story. Knowing how to structure sentences into meaningful paragraphs is one of those skills. Whether you polish what you have or write all 3K words doesn't matter, I suppose.
But I will advise that you work on it until it shines. Take this opportunity to learn some of the fundamentals of the craft. And if your intention is to write a short story, then you should research its characteristics. A story of 3K words does not necessarily constitute a short story of traditional standards.
