actually,a native speaker whether it's an American or an English would say"I'm GETTING MARRIED next week"not what you said(marrying) nor what the sister said(going to marry) but dont get me wrong here,I'm not saying that you're mistaken but it's just what's really common..
By the way,it did put a smile on my face,so thank you
