All I have is a pen writing down on the paper

Living a life with pain; am I a writer or a rapper?

Hands splashed with ink, papers full of lyrics

Why do I suffer in my country? Am I a resident aliens?

Have been searching for job, meant to be undesirable

I don’t trust the government it’s unreliable

I still remember when my mommy told me go to school

So as to become a legendary a man who won’t skew

The thing I could not get is why my daddy was nervous

I was still a little kid I couldn’t bear it I was so novice

Victim of bad life turned him sad and hopeless

My daddy was educated but the dude was jobless

Here the peaceful protests are defined as a rebellion
If you got hungry don’t show up in the street yelling
Coz the feds won’t bless ya and any other civilian
They won’t hesitate to kill even if ya were in a million
And the police will stick your head on the concrete
Tell you: if ya show up here again you’ll lose your teeth

Then you wake up in a hospital lucky you were not killed

Words Explanation

• Death Row = the cells in a prison for prisoners who are waiting to be killed as punishment for a serious crime. Our serious crime is that we simply objected exploitation and asked for our rights; as a result we’re punished now living this sick life in our country.
• Resident aliens = a person from another country who has permission to stay in the US.
• VIP = ‘Very Important Person’ who is treated in a special way.
• Algerian Dream = it’s the dream of people to live peacefully, have rights of work, education…etc.
• Money talks = people who have a lot of money have more power and influence than others.
• James Gatz = Jay Gatsby, a character in a story (Great Gatsby) who has become very rich through illegal activities, and his attempts to win back his former lover Daisy Buchanan. The man was poor his father was a farmer. Gatsby wanted to be wealthy and get respect hence he did what he did, the story is cool you’d better read it.
• Fat Cat = Smug, selfish and greedy the businessman/woman who exploits their position for their own personal gain at the cost of the businesses or community.
• Jim Crow = the policy of segregation or unfair treatment of African Americans in hotels, restaurants, businesses, etc. The name came from the title of a song that was sung in musical shows by white entertainers who tried to look and sound like African Americans.
