Here we have last night which indicates the past.Therefore,we use conditional type two

I'm writing to you today to tell you about what happened last week as I was camping with some friends on the beach.
while I was preparing the lunch with Julie,Emilie and Sarah were swimming and playing on the beach.after we finished *****ng, Julie went to call the girls when she saw a shark in the water.She started waving and shouting but the girls didnt understand what she was saying.It was really awfull!!!!Fortunatelly a groupe of people could keep the shark away with their boat and rescued my friends.I think I'll never forget this scary event all my life.

the question was to combine the sentences using the appropriate word
and we have 2 sentences ,so there is an inappropritate word
you answered like this
